Vacation Spot: Watch Hill, RI Juliana

The temperatures are rising and people everywhere are looking to flee the cities for the more summer appropriate beach towns. If you’re a New Englander, such as myself, you are probably familiar with the overwhelmingly popular Hamptons destination. However, for a more low-key beach town, Watch Hill, RI is the perfect place, just ask its newest resident Taylor Swift. With a bright bathing suit and a new tote filled with beach essentials you’re ready for the water, or throw on a cover up and wedges and head back in to town for a lobster roll and summer cocktail.

Style Recap Zoe Saldana Zoe Saldana Looked

Style Recap: Zoe Saldana
Zoe Saldana looked incredible at the 2012 Teen Choice Awards in Jonathan Saunders. This two-pice geometric outfit perfectly suited the occasion. The beautiful sheen gave this dress a very sophisticated appeal while the geometric print gave it an edge. Paired with gorgeous Christian Louboutin, her out was completely stunning. ~AJ

Style Recap:No Doubt

It was amazing to see No Doubt perform together at the Teen Choice Awards after an 11 year break. They are one of my top bands of all time. With their amazing music  also came their amazing style, which makes me an even bigger fan of theirs. As you can see they haven’t lost their touch. The band all wore suits, each adding their own touch to them  -IJ

Style Recap: Stockholm StreetStyle

This look from the always inspirational Stockholm StreetStyle blog is eclectic and fun, but easy to pull off as well. The monochromatic red is flattering in lengthening the body, but the silhouette of this outfit is still relaxed and casual - perfect for summer! Colorful jewelry adds punch and personality, and the cool aviators are both sensible and stylish. I love how this style is finished off with a neutral brown envelope clutch and white platform sandals. Nothing here is too matchy-matchy, and yet it coordinates perfectly!

Style Recap: Ashlee Simpson

Ashlee Simpson hosts the Samsung Galaxy S III event on July 19, 2012 in New York City.
I’m loving this outfit Ashlee Simpson wore to a Samsung Galaxy S III event in New York. It’s cool and edgy, and the leather shorts are perfectly on-trend. She punches up the outfit with a pop of orange, but the black clutch and shoes mean that the bright color isn’t overwhelming. The look is very “oh, this old thing”, and it’s the epitome of casual cool.

There Might Be No Style Of Clothing Thats More

There might be no style of clothing that’s more popular right now than peplum. In today’s GS style inspiration from chloemontana she incorporates a peplum top into her look. The shirt is bold in color yet minimalistic. The peplum structure adds what this shirt needs to stand out and be the center of her outfit. Paired with a blazer, this outfit is chic and versatile. Then Now Shift Dress Shift Dresses Began Their

Then & Now: Shift Dress
Shift dresses began their rise in the 1960’s. Audrey Hepburn first popularized this item in the film “Breakfast at Tiffany’s.” After this first appearance, shift dresses could be found on celebrities ranging from Twiggy to Jacqueline Kennedy. Sturdy fabrics, bold patterns and colors, and a loose fit are components of these pieces. Shift dresses are still widely fashionable in today’s world of style. Celebrities and clothing lines love shift dresses. Many people from Alexa Chung to Free People to Gwyneth Paltrow can be found keeping this look from the 60’s well alive.

Sheer & Neon
This look from tweedandvulture is perfect for a casual workplace, a funky concert, or dinner with friends. I’m totally obsessed with colored jeans, and this outfit is stylish, standout, and despite the yellow and black color pairing isn’t at all reminiscent of a bumblebee. Oh, and did I mention I’m also obsessed with statement necklaces? Love it.

Then & Now: Midi Skirts

Above: Midi skirts on the runway at Fendi and Louis Vuitton
Below: pattern illustration of a midi-length dress (left), Faye Dunaway in Bonnie and Clyde (right)

Midi- length skirts, which fall below the knee but above the ankle, first appeared in the 1930s and 40s but were eventually displaced by the miniskirt. In the 1967 film Bonnie and Clyde, Fay Dunaway stunned in midi skirts as Bonnie Parker, and the length became popular again for a short time. These demure, ladylike skirts first made their reappearance in 2011 and have since been embraced by stylish ladies who believe that less isn’t always more.
Try it for yourself: Forever 21 Pleated Midi-Length Skirt, Dorothy Perkins bird print midi skirt, O’Neill You N’ Me Skirt, and Asos Aztec Pencil Skirt are all good bets if you’re ready to try out this trend without investing too much money.
